Charter in the Grenadines

Port Louis – Port Louis, Grenada
150Nm, 7 days, Leopard 46, 28th December - 3rd January

After a long flight across the pond, the first thing on the agenda was a swim in the pool at the marina and then a tour of our fine vessel we’d be staying on for the next week. A short sail around the headland to a deserted bay kicked things off; anchor was then dropped in this tranquil bay, a hidden secret some may say. We then took the tender over to the sunken museum created by Jason de Caires Taylor, where a maze of sculptures and human figures lay on seafloor. What a fantastic first day…

Carriacou was a great stop over, a large town with established facilities and numerous shops to stock up the holds.

Anchoring up on the west side of Union island in Chatham Bay was a rustic beach hut called ‘Vanessa Place’, with tables placed on the sand. A welcoming waitress came up to us when we were dropping anchor and asks what we wanted for supper… Chicken, ribs or lobster - what a choice!

Petite St. Vincent is a lovely secluded island with empty beaches and crystal clear water, ideal for spending the day diving and relaxing waterside.

Tobago Keys was another stunning anchorage, with calm seas and a reef which gave us great protection to whatever weather was thrown our way. It is also a turtle reserve, allowing us to snorkel with the turtles for hour on end. A chauffeur can run you into the island for a crayfish supper or bring out fresh bread and croissants in the morning. Bliss…

Sandy Island is located opposite Carriacou, and as the name suggests, is little more than a lump of sand in the sea, rising no more than 3m above sea-level. A lovely isolated last night under the stars before returning to St Georges.
